ENRICH Wales: Studies now recruiting

Lakshini Mendis

Enabling Research in Care Homes (ENRICH Cymru) network in Wales is co-hosted by the Centre for Ageing and Dementia Research, and the Wales School for Social Care Research at Swansea University.  The aim of ENRICH Cymru is to improve the lives of residents and staff in Care Homes across Wales by developing and facilitating a network of ‘research ready’ Care Homes. The network promotes the exchange of research ideas and knowledge, and fosters the co-creation of research relevant to the current issues in the Care Home sector.

The network officially launched in Wales in 2018. There are currently 19 homes registered in the network across North and South Wales and we aim to recruit more homes into the network this year.   We are also launching a regular newsletter, which will be sent to homes registered in the network and to other interested parties.  The first edition is in preparation and the newsletter will provide care homes and others with all the latest developments in the network, as well as the latest research findings which matter to issues in the Welsh care home sector, and updates from the studies that care homes have taken part in.

ENRICH Cymru is now helping recruit for the following studies:

  • EVALUATING THE IMPACT OF INTERGENERATIONAL ACTIVITIES ON RELATIONSHIP CENTRED CARE AND CARE OUTCOMES IN CARE HOMES (Swansea University are recruiting care homes and schools for this study).  Contact details: Kate Howson, email: k.e.howson@swansea.ac.uk or telephone 07930240425.
  • EXAMINING THE LEARNING PROCESSES AND PREFERENCES OF PEOPLE WITH DEMENTIA AND PEOPLE WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES AND DEMENTIA (Bangor University).  Contact details: Zoe Lucock, email: psp8f4@bangor.ac.uk
