Researh in Care Homes and with Care Home residents is increasing in Nottingham and in the East Midlands. Here are a few upates, on what has been going on in the area:

• Annabelle Long, a researcher on the PEACH study in Nottingham, has written a blog on the challenges of conducting research in the care home setting.  It is a reminder of how difficult it can be for researchers to adapt their protocols to work in care homes but Annabelle, very eloquently, addresses why research in residents extremely important: https://britishgeriatricssociety.wordpress.com/2017/06/30/the-challenges-of-research-in-the-care-home-setting/

• The Optimal Study, which is an NIHR-funded study looking at how care home residents receive healthcare – and which took place in 4 Nottinghamshire care homes, amongst 12 care homes nationally, has now reported its findings.  It has summarised these in a brief, easy to understand video, which includes quotes from study participants and which can be found at: https://youtu.be/aGY3-0QCMf8
