The Research for Social Care (RfSC) Programme are seeking to appoint social care researchers and practitioners to join their funding committee. They are looking for applicants with expertise in social care policy and practice, participatory research and research involvement with charity, voluntary or third sector organisations. Closing date June 17th.

“The Research for Social Care (RfSC) call is seeking to appoint social care researchers and practitioners to its Funding Committee. In particular, researchers or practitioners with expertise in the following areas are sought:

  • Social care policy and practice relating to children and young people
  • Co-production and participatory research, particularly with underserved and historically excluded groups
  • Intersectionality, inequalities and social care
  • Research involvement and knowledge mobilisation with charity, voluntary and third sector organisations

About the Committee

RfSC is a national, bi-annual call that makes awards of up to £350,000 for projects of up to three years in length. It funds research which generates evidence to improve, expand and strengthen the way social care is delivered for people who use social care services, carers, and the public.

The role of the RfSC Committee is to review grant applications and make funding recommendations to the Programme Director and Department of Health and Social Care.

Committee membership tenure is for two years in the first instance, with the potential for renewal for a further two years. Reasonable travel and other expenses are reimbursed.

How to apply:

Role criteria

Successful candidates will have experience in social care research and/or practice in relevant areas as demonstrated through publications, research funding, impact of research on social care, work-based or professional knowledge and other measures of peer esteem. Experience of sitting on panels and committees is desirable but not essential.
